Sihanoukville (also known as Kompong Som) is Cambodia's only maritime port. The main reason to come here is the four beaches that ring the headland.Sihanoukville is becoming more of a tourist place every day. It sits on a headland surrounded by pristine beaches and overlooks the Gulf of Thailand.
The best of the beaches are Sokha and Ochheuteal. It's also worth visiting Independence Beach and checking out the old Independence Hotel. Some locals claim the hotel is haunted.
Just 2km north of the main port is a fishing port which offers some good photo opportunities at sunrise or sunset.
Although the town lacks major tourist attractions, there are facilities for snorkeling, scuba diving and swimming.
